Hand weaving

Some recent hand weaved structures in response to my loom weaves dealing with emotional reactions to colour.

My first tapestry

Here it is, my first tapestry! I've always wanted to know how to create a tapestry and was recently lucky enough to get taught. Granted the colours within these aren't the best, and the yarn is disgusting acrylic! But... overall, i'm really proud of myself. It took a few days and a lot of patience (something I really lack in) to create.

I'm looking forward to creating more tapestries soon, hopefully using thicker warps and wefts so it will take up less time.

Weaving away

I've been so busy lately writing an assigment I've hardly done any practical work which really gets me down, however, these past few days.. I've been weaving away. I'm currently working on colour, and how colours combined can play with emotions.
Here are a few of my most recent loom weaves..

Different faces tell different tales..

I've recently been working from people, I love faces! They're just so interesting and tell so many tales.. These are a few sketches I've done recently. I always work quite literally, I'm constantly told to work more abstract, use more colour, look deeper into things. I love all those things! But nothing beats a pencil sketch.

I've used a combination of pencils and fine liners.

Recent times!

Me and one of my best friends, the cake I made my boyfriend for his birthday, temporary dinosaur hand tattoos, marley cat.. this is my boyfriends cat and I really don't like cats mainly because I'm allergic and I just think they're rude but marley is too cute for words, giant kinder egg off my mum for easter, necklace £3.50, ring £2.

Just some recent stuff as I haven't posted properly in ages! Some recent work will be up soon.

This is halloween..

I was just looking at booking flights to Switzerland and realised I was looking on Friday the 13th, which got me thinking about Halloween and I remembered this image. I think it needs sharing as its simply lovely. It's from country living magazine, I just love it.

Forms and structure within Knit..

I've recently been working a lot with Form and Structures within knit and weave. I feel like i've found my place in the world of crafts. These are 2 of my hand knitted pieces that I created over about a day and a half. I've worked with increasing, decreasing, stocking stitch, garter stitch, and change of colour. The work looks much clearer presented properly and mounted and I'll get some photos soon. I'd worked with 3D weave work before, such as making things like small baskets and shapes and tried to re-create these through knit. I think knit is seen too much as a flat surface pattern, a jumper or a pretty flower. Why can't knit be outside the box too?
