Cambridge Life

Monday was the big move to Cambridge to embark on my placements here were I will be working with Susie Olczak, Heidi Lichterman and also on the art:language:location exhibition throughout Cambridge.

I first approached Susie as when researching I read this on her website:
"It (her work) explores how the viewer experiences space, form and light. Her installation work alters, highlights or creates space for the viewer to interact with."
And I just fell for it. I feel this is a fascinating perspective to have of art and really wanting your art to engage the viewer and make them have a real experience with the work. This is something I've always found really important with my work, the whole spectrum of human interaction.

You can view Susie's work here: http://susieolczak.co.uk/

The second person I will be working with is Heidi Lichterman, a weaver who's wall hangings are inspired by the scale and positioning of their surroundings. Her large pieces are mainly commissioned and therefore respond to the space they will be displayed in. Heidi views weaving in a very similar way to me - that it is a problem solver. You start with the idea and design and then begin to solve the problem by sussing how it can be woven.

You can view more of her work at: http://www.heidilichterman.co.uk

And last, but certainly not least I will be involved with art:language:location - a fabulous project revolving around art, language and location with over 53 artists exhibiting all around Cambridge (it really is going to be fabulous!)

You can read a lot more about it here: http://artlanguagelocation.wordpress.com/

The main thing I will be doing is helping with the set up of the pop up shop they will have in one of the galleries they're using as an exhibiting space. Susie Olczak is also part of the project so I'm sure it will be an extremely interesting and exciting project.
